It reads a community server's Chinese channel structure, translates it, and mirrors an English version, with visibility switched by role. Whatever changes on one side follows on the other.

The challenge

The obvious way to run a bilingual community is to create two sets of channels. The problem starts immediately afterwards: a channel is added on one side, a name is changed, an announcement is pinned - and nobody remembers to do the same on the other. Three months later they are two different servers, and the English-speaking half is looking at a half-abandoned space.

What we built

An idempotent sync engine
Running the same command repeatedly produces the same result and never duplicates a channel. A preview mode shows exactly what would change before anything does.
Different rules for different kinds of channel
Conversational channels mirror structure but not messages, support channels stay writable, everything else is read-only. Mirroring everything identically turns the English side into an unmoderated ghost town.
Translation caching
Existing translations do not shift when the model changes. Wording that moves on every run reads, to a community, like somebody quietly editing the announcements.
Exact matching on the exclusion list
Channels to skip are matched by exact name, never by substring. Substring matching silently swallows legitimate channels with similar names, and the only symptom is one missing channel on the English side.
